Parents of Thimerosal-Injured Children Hold DC Rally
to Support
Repeal of Homeland Liability-Shield Provision.
Washington, DC--On Wednesday, January
8th, parents of autistic
children injured by the mercury preservative Thimerosal gathered
on Capitol Hill for the "Know the Cause, Find the Cure" rally
in
support of legislation that would repeal the liability-shield
provision inappropriately snuck into the Homeland Security Act. The
event took place near the fountain at Upper Senate Park on the
corner of Constitution and Delaware, United States Senator Debbie Stabenow
(D-MI) will held a press conference at the rally where she announced
the
repeal legislation. Currently, the provisions give Eli Lilly and other
vaccine makers a get-out-of-court-free card by eliminating legal
recourse for thousands of autistic children harmed by mercury
Thimerosal in vaccines. Other speakers included Senator Patrick
Leahy (D-VT) and US Representative Dan Burton (R-IN)

mercury will be repealed under an agreement announced in the Senate
on
Friday...... Democrat Debbie Stabenow of Michigan, who had drawn up
her own repeal
legislation and who attended a rally of dozens of families of autistic
children in Washington earlier this week, called the agreement "a
great
